If this doesn’t make you angry, what will? The global warming excuses. Thursday, Aug 31 2017

It takes only two things to keep people in chains: The ignorance of the oppressed and the treachery of their leaders.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

President Trump famously called global warming a “Chinese hoax.” That was his excuse to substitute politics for science, denying the opinions of the vast majority of climatologists, and pulling America out of the Paris climate accords.

Many Trump followers, and Trump’s protector of our environment, EPA head Scott Pruitt, tell you human influenced climate change is not real.

They tell you a series of lies:

  1. CO2 is not actually increasing.
  2. Anyway, even if it is increasing, there is no warming.
  3. Anyway, even if there is warming, it is due to natural causes.
  4. Anyway, the impact of continued greenhouse gas emissions will be minor.
  5. Anyway, even if humans are causing global warming, the changes will be beneficial
  6. Anyway, even if the changes are harmful, humans are good at adapting to changes
  7. Anyway, it’s too late or too expensive to do anything about it
  8. Anyway, a technological fix is bound to come along when we really need it
  9. Anyway, Donald Trump, the Republicans, the Koch brothers, and right-wing think tanks say the whole thing is a hoax — a Chinese hoax.

The first eight are false, with #9 being laughable were it not so infuriating.

We won’t go into the science discussions since they are widely available online. Instead, we’ll bring to your attention the latest hints about the “Chinese hoax,” what has arrived, and what is coming:

We all have read about this “1000-year-storm,” that probably will repeat soon:

Harvey aftermath: Death toll rises; so do the floodwaters
With countless Houstonians still awaiting rescue, Tropical Depression Harvey devoured another Texas city.

The unrelenting storm unleashed its wrath on a wide swath east of Houston, leaving thousands stranded in flooded homes and forcing the evacuation of a nursing facility and even an emergency shelter where residents had sought refuge.

“Our whole city is underwater right now but we are coming!” Port Arthur Mayor Derrick Freeman posted Wednesday on Facebook. “If you called, we are coming. Please get to higher ground if you can, but please try (to) stay out of attics.”

But did you know about this one?

Devastating monsoon rains affect 41 million people

Unusually heavy monsoon rains over the last several weeks have killed over 1,000 people across India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. In all, over 41 million people have suffered the direct impact of the rain.

Already deeply impoverished rural communities have been devastated as landslides and rising waters have taken away homes — as well as people.

The most recent city hit is Mumbai, India’s financial center, parts of which are under several feet of water. On Tuesday, traffic in parts of the city came to a near total halt, schools were closed, and the city’s largest hospital was partially flooded.

On both sides of the earth, we see unusually violent storms, and this promises to be only a taste of what is coming at us.

We can ignore it or we can begin to deal with it, as nearly every other nation on earth already has begun.

Our President wants to protect us from the “dangers” of Mexicans, Muslims, and transgenders. He wants to build a wall and to deport “criminal” children who have lived here peacefully for many years, all in the name of national security.

You protect your kids with seat belts; you tell them not to talk to strangers; you don’t let them play in a busy street or play outside when there is lightning, and you make sure they come home safely at night.

But, the real danger to all of our children, grandchildren, the real danger to our security and indeed to all of humanity, does not come from Mexicans, or Muslims, or lightning.

The real danger to you and all of us comes from global warming, and from the politicians who have been bribed to deny it.

Look around you. Windstorms, melting ice, “100-year” floods, droughts, famine, disease and the disappearance of species all have worsened and only will continue to worsen.  But big business, and those who are bribed by big business, want us to ignore the obvious.

Politicians obey two things: Money and votes. If you have money, support politicians who will help fight global warming. And tell your political representatives your vote will go to those who wish to save your children and the world.

Day by day, inch by inch, the politicians endanger our children. To allow global warming is child abuse.

These are your children and grandchildren Trump is risking. Fight for them.

If all that is happening around you doesn’t make you angry, what will?

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
It takes only two things to keep people in chains: The ignorance of the oppressed and the treachery of their leaders.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

In one sense, the President of the United States is the second most powerful force on earth.

He commands the most devastating military ever created. His words alone can change the flow of the world’s history. A single, 140 word, groggily phrased, morning Tweet, can send the media, the markets and the moment into a tizzy.

He lifts a finger and the world shudders.

The third most powerful force on this planet is, at any given moment, the American political party then in power. It creates all U.S, laws, then appoints a servile Supreme Court that will approve those laws.  And with the U.S. being the gorilla filling a small room, U.S. laws matter greatly to the world.

Together, a President and his dominant political party can be an imposing duo. But they are nothing — nothing — compared to the ultimate power in America and in the world: The voting people.

An impotent President and his acquiescent party may demand, then plead, “Surrender all that is valuable to you and follow us,” and a hopeful populace, praying for salvation, may march blindly and trustingly.Image result for herd of sheep at cliff

But when a chasm appears, and “Follow us,” becomes, “You people go ahead; we’ll linger safely back here, picking up your valuables,” the great mass may hesitate, then mill about in confusion, then resist. Then, “Mussolini” its retribution on the leaders who led it astray.

Today, we have passed through the “blindly and trustingly” stage, and have entered the “mill about / resist” phase. What is your destination?

The vast inertia of our huge populace has not yet been detoured by its leadership’s obvious lies, broken promises, stealing, nepotism, hate-mongering, ignorance, incompetence, and failures. But, like a runaway freight train applying its squealing brakes, America’s suicide mission has begun to slow  . . .

. . . Because lately has come Doubt, the beginning of the end for any movement. Doubt infects contagiously, like influenza in a kindergarten. Doubt shatters the false image of a heroic leader presenting the exaggerated squint of eye and the melodramatic thrust of chin.

Doubt pulls back the curtain and reveals the Ozian fakery.

Doubt may have, begun with the Wall, which when shown to be an ill-considered, expensive, impossible, pointless arrogance, desperately was redefined by the leader’s toadies to be a “fence,” then a “barrier,” then “troops,” then “border guards,” and now . . . now what? Now forgotten?

Will they just say, “Mission accomplished,” and move on to the next fakery?

The Wall, as Trump’s followers understood it would be, no longer exists. It lies in the bunk barrel along with “Mexico will pay for it” “Trump University,” “Obama is not a citizen,” “Obama tapped my phones,” and “I will reveal my tax returns.”

The Doubt may have grown with the endless, almost comical attempts to destroy Barack Obama’s signature achievement: Romneycare.

Fifty votes, or was it sixty? Seventy? Who could keep track of the ridiculousness? The leaders lounging on the side, repeatedly urged, “Follow me,” while offering the people no plan and no path to be followed.

And when a plan finally was produced, it was exposed as a confused jumble of demented lies, a suicidal map of misdirection, dense smoke, and fun house mirrors. And seeing the people mill and struggle, the leaders hastily, frantically produced another map, far worse even than the first.

Seven years have passed and the map still is in development, while the leaders urge, “Follow me.” But to where?

Now Doubt, planted by Ignorance and fed by Failure, approaches the chasm into which even many of Donald Trump’s most ardent lemmings may refuse to march. The chasm is called “Climate Change denial,” and the wisest see its reality.

The leaders had claimed climate change was an illusion, a “Chinese hoax.” But millions no longer are fooled. (Some lemmings can be fooled by anything and will march lockstep to their death when ordered. Their numbers decline.)

So, on the Wall of hatred, then on the “Trumpcare” of neglect, and now on the denial of Climate Change, the people have taken the lead, while the erstwhile leaders trail sadly behind in the dust.

When the President said, “I was elected to represent the citizens of Pittsburgh, not Paris,” the people of Pittsburgh said, “You don’t represent us. “Our agreement was not with Paris, but with all the nations of the world.”

The President said, “In order to fulfill my solemn duty to protect America and its citizens, the United States will withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord”

But, a growing list of states, cities, and corporations replied, “No, you do not protect us by endangering our children and the world in which we live.”

At recent count, 187 U.S. mayors commit to uphold Paris Climate Agreement. See the latest list. Is your mayor among the rapidly growing group?

This was the statement from mayors whose cities protect the 52 million Americans who refuse to be Trump’s lemmings:

“We will continue to lead. We are increasing investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency.

“We will buy and create more demand for electric cars and trucks. We will increase our efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions, create a clean energy economy, and stand for environmental justice.

“And if the President wants to break the promises made to our allies enshrined in the historic Paris Agreement, we’ll build and strengthen relationships around the world to protect the planet from devastating climate risks.

“The world cannot wait — and neither will we.”

While the President and his party dither, the mayors lead. They have turned you from the precipice, and are returning you to sanity.

Trump refuses to say whether he still believes climate change is a hoax. But you are pushed by his lemmings and sycophants and cult followers who, not knowing what  they are supposed to believe, still ardently believe . . .  but won’t say what they believe so strongly.

Fervency and ignorance dance hand in hand, while Truth and Logic have lost their voice.

Sean Spicer, Trump’s apologist, who is impervious to shame, said, “We’ve never seen before at this point in a presidency such sweeping reassurance of American interest.” He said, “He let American allies know exactly what they can expect from us going forward — what he called “a principled realism, rooted in common values and shared interests.”

What does Spicer mean? Who is reassured by “climate change is a Chinese hoax”? And exactly what does “reassurance of interest” tell us? Are our allies reassured? Not if you ask them. Are Americans reassured? Not if you ask them, either.

Perhaps we’ll have to wait for the next tweet to explain it.  Or not.

And do our allies really “know exactly what they can expect”? And what are those “common values and shared interests” the President referenced? The public responses from our soon-to-be, if-not-already former allies seem to put lie to the claims of “shared interests.”

Orwell lives bigly in the White House. Ivanka and Jared sneak lucrative business arrangements via their government security clearances. A petulant President responds with charity for none and malice toward all.

Trump’s fevered mind swirls. Enemies surround him. The walls close. He fears for his survival. The bully is a coward.

But will you survive? Will your battle scars eventually heal, or will the lemmings of the right push you and your children over the edge?

The war is upon you. Two sides face — fools and facts — and you are asked to choose.

It is 3:00 AM. The inutile President awakens, groggily remembering yet another insult. And then another. Angrily, he reaches for the red phone.  This time, a simple tweet will not suffice to quell his fury. He must lash out at the derisive laughter.

“Hello, General,” he barks through clenched teeth  . . . .

Monetary Sovereignty

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

The single most important problems in economics involve the excessive income/wealth/power Gaps between the have-mores and the have-less.

Wide Gaps negatively affect poverty, health and longevity, education, housing, law and crime, war, leadership, ownership, bigotry, supply and demand, taxation, GDP, international relations, scientific advancement, the environment, human motivation and well-being, and virtually every other issue in economics.

Implementation of The Ten Steps To Prosperity can narrow the Gaps:

Ten Steps To Prosperity:
1. ELIMINATE FICA (Ten Reasons to Eliminate FICA )
Although the article lists 10 reasons to eliminate FICA, there are two fundamental reasons:
*FICA is the most regressive tax in American history, widening the Gap by punishing the low and middle-income groups, while leaving the rich untouched, and
*The federal government, being Monetarily Sovereign, neither needs nor uses FICA to support Social Security and Medicare.
2. FEDERALLY FUNDED MEDICARE — PARTS A, B & D, PLUS LONG TERM CARE — FOR EVERYONE (H.R. 676, Medicare for All )
This article addresses the questions:
*Does the economy benefit when the rich can afford better health care than can the rest of Americans?
*Aside from improved health care, what are the other economic effects of “Medicare for everyone?”
*How much would it cost taxpayers?
*Who opposes it?”
3. PROVIDE A MONTHLY ECONOMIC BONUS TO EVERY MAN, WOMAN AND CHILD IN AMERICA (similar to Social Security for All) (The JG (Jobs Guarantee) vs the GI (Guaranteed Income) vs the EB (Economic Bonus)) Or institute a reverse income tax.
This article is the fifth in a series about direct financial assistance to Americans:

Why Modern Monetary Theory’s Employer of Last Resort is a bad idea. Sunday, Jan 1 2012
MMT’s Job Guarantee (JG) — “Another crazy, rightwing, Austrian nutjob?” Thursday, Jan 12 2012
Why Modern Monetary Theory’s Jobs Guarantee is like the EU’s euro: A beloved solution to the wrong problem. Tuesday, May 29 2012
“You can’t fire me. I’m on JG” Saturday, Jun 2 2012

Economic growth should include the “bottom” 99.9%, not just the .1%, the only question being, how best to accomplish that. Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) favors giving everyone a job. Monetary Sovereignty (MS) favors giving everyone money. The five articles describe the pros and cons of each approach.
4. FREE EDUCATION (INCLUDING POST-GRAD) FOR EVERYONE Five reasons why we should eliminate school loans
Monetarily non-sovereign State and local governments, despite their limited finances, support grades K-12. That level of education may have been sufficient for a largely agrarian economy, but not for our currently more technical economy that demands greater numbers of highly educated workers.
Because state and local funding is so limited, grades K-12 receive short shrift, especially those schools whose populations come from the lowest economic groups. And college is too costly for most families.
An educated populace benefits a nation, and benefitting the nation is the purpose of the federal government, which has the unlimited ability to pay for K-16 and beyond.
5. SALARY FOR ATTENDING SCHOOL
Even were schooling to be completely free, many young people cannot attend, because they and their families cannot afford to support non-workers. In a foundering boat, everyone needs to bail, and no one can take time off for study.
If a young person’s “job” is to learn and be productive, he/she should be paid to do that job, especially since that job is one of America’s most important.
6. ELIMINATE FEDERAL TAXES ON BUSINESS
Businesses are dollar-transferring machines. They transfer dollars from customers to employees, suppliers, shareholders and the federal government (the later having no use for those dollars). Any tax on businesses reduces the amount going to employees, suppliers and shareholders, which diminishes the economy. Ultimately, all business taxes reduce your personal income.
7. INCREASE THE STANDARD INCOME TAX DEDUCTION, ANNUALLY. (Refer to this.) Federal taxes punish taxpayers and harm the economy. The federal government has no need for those punishing and harmful tax dollars. There are several ways to reduce taxes, and we should evaluate and choose the most progressive approaches.
Cutting FICA and business taxes would be a good early step, as both dramatically affect the 99%. Annual increases in the standard income tax deduction, and a reverse income tax also would provide benefits from the bottom up. Both would narrow the Gap.
8. TAX THE VERY RICH (THE “.1%) MORE, WITH HIGHER PROGRESSIVE TAX RATES ON ALL FORMS OF INCOME. (TROPHIC CASCADE)
There was a time when I argued against increasing anyone’s federal taxes. After all, the federal government has no need for tax dollars, and all taxes reduce Gross Domestic Product, thereby negatively affecting the entire economy, including the 99.9%.
But I have come to realize that narrowing the Gap requires trimming the top. It simply would not be possible to provide the 99.9% with enough benefits to narrow the Gap in any meaningful way. Bill Gates reportedly owns $70 billion. To get to that level, he must have been earning $10 billion a year. Pick any acceptable Gap (1000 to 1?), and the lowest paid American would have to receive $10 million a year. Unreasonable.
9. FEDERAL OWNERSHIP OF ALL BANKS (Click The end of private banking and How should America decide “who-gets-money”?)
Banks have created all the dollars that exist. Even dollars created at the direction of the federal government, actually come into being when banks increase the numbers in checking accounts. This gives the banks enormous financial power, and as we all know, power corrupts — especially when multiplied by a profit motive.
Although the federal government also is powerful and corrupted, it does not suffer from a profit motive, the world’s most corrupting influence.
10. INCREASE FEDERAL SPENDING ON THE MYRIAD INITIATIVES THAT BENEFIT AMERICA’S 99.9% (Federal agencies)Browse the agencies. See how many agencies benefit the lower- and middle-income/wealth/ power groups, by adding dollars to the economy and/or by actions more beneficial to the 99.9% than to the .1%.
Save this reference as your primer to current economics. Sadly, much of the material is not being taught in American schools, which is all the more reason for you to use it.

The Ten Steps will grow the economy, and narrow the income/wealth/power Gap between the rich and you.

Image result for criminal with gunLet’s say your mayor tells you crime in your city is at an all-time low, so he now can reduce the size and budget of the police department. But statistics show that crime is at an all-time high.

Would you be intelligent enough to see his ignorance of fact as a problem for you and your family?

Let’s say your state governor tells you your water supply is clean and pure, so “job-killing” water regulations no longer are needed. But statistics show your water has dangerous levels of lead.

Would you be intelligent enough to consider your governor’s denial of clear evidence as worrisome?

Let’s say your Senators and their political party tell you your banks are completely honest, so there is no need for “economically stifling” oversight. But, you keep reading articles about how your banks not only caused the last recession but are continuing to commit the same offenses.

Would you be intelligent enough to recognize your Senators’ and their political party’s divorce from reality as harmful to you and the nation?

Let’s say your Congressperson first tells you he agrees with the scientists that your food supply is in danger from harmful bacteria and dangerous chemicals, so monitoring is needed. Then he denies he said that, and tells you the scientists are lying. Later, he tells you the food supply is not in danger, then it is in danger, and now it is not in danger, so costly monitoring is not needed.

You repeatedly see stories of botulism and chemically tainted food on our shelves and the vast majority of scientists say food monitoring is necessary, but your Congressperson tells you he was just kidding and he was just joking.

Would you be intelligent enough to doubt what your Congressperson repeatedly tells you, then denies he has told you? Would any of the above bother you? Affect you? Affect your children? Would you care at all?

I ask you to think about your answers, because of these articles:

Asked about health care, Trump trips over his own ignorance  5/1/17

Yesterday, for example, the president appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” and host John Dickerson did his best to ask Trump to explain the plan the White House is championing, with a particular emphasis on one of its most controversial provisions. The president argued:

“Pre-existing conditions are in the bill. And I just watched another network than yours, and they were saying, ‘Pre-existing is not covered.’ Pre-existing conditions are in the bill. And I mandate it. I said, ‘Has to be.’”

When Dickerson pressed Trump on whether he’s prepared to “guarantee” protections to those with pre-existing conditions, the president replied,

“We actually have – we actually have a clause that guarantees.”

There is no such clause. The Republican bill guts benefits for consumers with pre-existing conditions, clearing the way for states to do the exact opposite of what Trump said yesterday.

Trump, making up nonsense as he went along, went on to say in the same interview that the GOP bill has been “totally fixed,” adding,

“I’ll tell you who doesn’t cover pre-existing conditions. Obamacare. You know why? It’s dead.”

Just so everyone’s clear, the president has no idea what he’s saying.

A longtime healthcare lobbyist, who also did not want to be identified criticizing Republicans, said he’d never seen legislation developed with such disregard for expert input. “It is totally divorced from reality,” he said.

Do you understand that your leader’s ignorance of fact is a problem for you and your family?

What about this:

Donald Trump’s new China claims contradicted by reality  5/1/17: As a presidential candidate, Donald Trump swore he’d label China a currency manipulator.

But wait, Trump says. There’s a perfectly good reason that (he) didn’t label China a currency manipulator because (he) changed China’s approach to monetary policy. Consider this exchange on “Face the Nation” yesterday between the president and CBS’s John Dickerson.

TRUMP: …I did say I would call China, if they were, a currency manipulator, early in my tenure. And then I get there. Number one, they – as soon as I got elected, they stopped. They’re not – it’s not going down anymore, their currency.

DICKERSON: But that had been true before. That had been true–

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: No.

When the CBS host asked specifically, “You were the one who got China to stop manipulating their currency?” Trump replied,

“I think so.”
Last week, Trump made a similar comment, arguing,
“President Xi, from the time I took office, he has not, they have not been currency manipulators. Because there’s a certain respect because he knew I would do something or whatever.”

The facts are not in dispute: China’s currency manipulation stopped in 2014. The evidence is unambiguous and unchallenged.

Two possibilities: The first is Trump knows China didn’t change its policies because of him, but he’s so embarrassed by his handling of the issue– and the ease with which he abandoned a promise he made to voters – that he’s brazenly lying, hoping his demonstrably false claims will distract some people from the truth.

The second is that Trump is so delusional, he actually believes his presidency shaped events in China three years ago.

Do you consider your leader’s denial of clear evidence as worrisome?

As Trump dissembles on Russia scandal, Republicans back his play 5/1/17

Russia and its autocratic leader were quite unpopular in GOP circles for many years.

In 2014, a CNN poll found that only 16% of Republican voters saw Russia as an ally. The same poll last week found that 56% of Republican voters now see Putin’s government as friendly.

The poll asked Americans about the possibility that Trump’s team colluded with Russia while Moscow launched an illegal espionage operation to attack our democracy.

The results found that one-in-five Republicans wouldn’t care if such collusion took place, while 44% of GOP voters would see this as a “minor problem.”
In a Fox News interview that aired on Friday, Trump started complaining about “made-up stories like Russia.”
“I call it the fake Russia story. Russia story was made up because the – they were embarrassed by their loss. They had this tremendous loss, a loss like nobody has ever seen before.
“So they made up this Russia thing to try and deflect because they’re embarrassed by what happened. The Russia is a phony – what do you see is the Russia story?
“The Russia story. And you see all of these other phony stories. It’s so bad and for me to have great approval ratings in light of all the faux press and the fake press I think is amazing.”

Trump does not actually have “great approval ratings,” and his claims about the nature of the election results are completely detached from reality.

The Russia scandal broke during the 2016 campaign, and the FBI began its counter-espionage investigation in July 2016. In Trump’s mind, the entire controversy was a reaction to his unexpected election victory in November 2016, which only makes sense if everyone involved in this story collectively had access to a time machine.

Do you recognize the GOP divorce from reality as harmful to you and America?

A timeline of every ridiculous thing Trump has said about climate change, 4/2/17

Donald Trump called global warming an urgent problem, and he’s called it a hoax. He’s claimed it’s a scam invented by the Chinese, and he’s denied that he ever said that. He’s promised to “cancel” the historic Paris climate agreement, and he’s said he still has an “open mind” on the matter.

2/6/09: Trump and three of his children signed a 2009 letter to President Barack Obama calling for a global climate deal.“We support your effort to ensure meaningful and effective measures to control climate change, an immediate challenge facing the United States and the world today.  If we fail to act now, it is scientifically irrefutable that there will be catastrophic and irreversible consequences for humanity and our planet.”

2/14/10: Trump changes his mind: (Al) Gore wants us to clean up our factories and plants in order to protect us from global warming when China and other countries couldn’t care less. It would make us totally noncompetitive in the manufacturing world, and China, Japan, and India are laughing at America’s stupidity.”

2/16/10: Trump claims scientists admitted global warming is a “con.” Climate deniers wrongly claimed hacked emails showed that scientists had conspired to fabricate evidence of global warming. Trump said (inaccurately) on Fox News that there was an email “sent a couple months ago by one of the leaders of global warming, the initiative…almost saying—I guess they’re saying it’s a con.”

11/6/12: Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump“The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.”

2014: Trump donates money to fight climate change. Trump donated $5,000 of his foundation’s money to Protect Our Winters, an advocacy group dedicated to “mobilizing the outdoor sports community to lead the charge towards positive climate action.” As the group’s website explains, “If we’re serious about slowing climate change, it’s imperative that we decrease our dependence on fossil fuels and focus on cleaner sources of energy and electricity.”

9/21/15 Trump: “I’m not a believer in man-made global warming.”

12/1/15: Trump says it’s “ridiculous” for Obama to pursue the Paris climate agreement.

12/30/15: “So Obama’s talking about all of this with the global warming and the—a lot of it’s a hoax, it’s a hoax. I mean, it’s a money-making industry, okay? It’s a hoax, a lot of it.”

1/24/16:Trump says his claim that global warming is a Chinese hoax was a “joke.”

May 2016: Trump wants to build a sea wall to protect his resort from global warming.“If the predictions of an increase in sea level rise as a result of global warming prove correct…it is likely that there will be a corresponding increase in coastal erosion rates…In our view, it could reasonably be expected that the rate of sea level rise might become twice of that presently occurring.”

5/26/16: Trump pledges to “cancel” the Paris climate agreement. Trump said that during his first 100 days in office, he would “rescind all the job-destroying Obama executive actions including” his landmark climate regulations, “cancel the Paris Climate Agreement,” and “stop all payments of US tax dollars to UN global warming programs.”

7/26/16: Trump says he “probably” called climate change a “hoax.” Bill O’Reilly asked Trump whether it was “true” that he had “called climate change a hoax.” Trump replied that he “might have” done so.

9/26/16: Trump picks leading climate skeptic to run the EPA transition. He chose Myron Ebell, who has a long history of opposing efforts to fight climate change; he’s even accused climate scientists of “manipulating and falsifying the data.”

9/26/16: Trump denies saying climate change is a Chinese hoax.

11/23/16: Trump has “open mind” on Paris agreement but still thinks scientists are misleading us.

11/27/16: Trump’s “default position” is that climate change “is a bunch of bunk.”

12/1/16: Ivanka Trump “wants to make climate change…one of her signature issues.”

12/7/16: Trump picks climate change denier, Scott Pruitt, to lead the EPA.

1/20/17: Donald Trump environment boss Scott Pruitt admits climate change is not a hoax
“I do not believe climate change is a hoax,” Pruitt said, contradicting both himself and the new President.

1/20/17: White House climate website replaced with pledge to eliminate Obama’s climate regulations.“President Trump is committed to eliminating harmful and unnecessary policies such as the Climate Action Plan.”

3/16/17: Trump plans to cut to climate research because it’s “a waste of your money.”

3/28/17: Trump signs executive order gutting many of Obama’s climate policies, including the Clean Power Plan.

3/29/17: Energy Department climate office bans use of phrase ‘climate change’ A supervisor at the Energy Department’s international climate office told staff this week not to use the phrases “climate change,”“emissions reduction” or “Paris Agreement” in written memos, briefings or other written communication.

Are you intelligent enough to doubt what Trump repeatedly tells you, then denies he has told you, then tells you again, and then denies it again?

Does any of the above bother you? Affect you? Affect your children? Do you care at all?

One last disrespect from Donald Trump: “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters.”

Is that you whom he disrespects?

THOUGHTSs

•All we have are partial solutions; the best we can do is try.

•Those, who do not understand the differences between Monetary Sovereignty and monetary non-sovereignty, do not understand economics.

•Any monetarily NON-sovereign government — be it city, county, state or nation — that runs an ongoing trade deficit, eventually will run out of money no matter how much it taxes its citizens.

•The more federal budgets are cut and taxes increased, the weaker an economy becomes..

•No nation can tax itself into prosperity, nor grow without money growth.

•Cutting federal deficits to grow the economy is like applying leeches to cure anemia.

•A growing economy requires a growing supply of money (GDP = Federal Spending + Non-federal Spending + Net Exports)

•Deficit spending grows the supply of money

•The limit to federal deficit spending is an inflation that cannot be cured with interest rate control. The limit to non-federal deficit spending is the ability to borrow.

•Until the 99% understand the need for federal deficits, the upper 1% will rule.

•Progressives think the purpose of government is to protect the poor and powerless from the rich and powerful. Conservatives think the purpose of government is to protect the rich and powerful from the poor and powerless.

•The single most important problem in economics is the Gap between the rich and the rest.

•Austerity is the government’s method for widening the Gap between the rich and the rest.

•Everything in economics devolves to motive, and the motive is the Gap between the rich and the rest..
