The debt hawks are to economics as the creationists are to biology. Those, who do not understand monetary sovereignty, do not understand economics. Cutting the federal deficit is the most ignorant and damaging step the federal government could take. It ranks ahead of the Hawley-Smoot Tariff.
Who are these people who want to arrest and deport all undocumented non-citizens, as well as repeal the law that gives citizenship to everyone born here?
Who are these people who want to prevent a Muslim mosque two blocks distant from ground zero?
Who are these people who wish to repeal health care insurance for millions of people who otherwise could not afford to pay?
Who are these people who want to prevent gays from having the same marriage benefits as straights? Who are these people who want to continue the humiliating ‘Don’t ask; don’t tell” military policy? Who are these people who ordered the Pentagon to send a questionnaire asking soldiers their opinions about serving with gays and lesbians.
Asking soldiers their opinions??? Is this the way the army now is run? By survey? What next, a questionnaire asking, “How do you feel about being sent to Afghanistan and getting blown up by a roadside bomb?” Or perhaps, “How do you feel about taking orders you don’t like?” Will military policy be dictated by the answers?
One of the questions in the survey is, “If Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is repealed and you are assigned to bathroom facilities with an open bay shower that someone you believe to be a gay or lesbian Service member also used, which are you most likely to do?” What if instead of “gay and lesbian,” we substitute the word “black,” would that be appropriate? Or how about, “Muslim”? Good idea?
Who are these people who wrap themselves in the American flag, but have forgotten the words on the Statue of Liberty? Who are these people who wave their piety in your face, but deny the basic tenets of their religion and indeed, all religions?
The bigotry in America has ramped up. When economic times are bad, the devils and the saints show their true colors. You can tell the merit of people by the way they act in a life boat. Now that we share life boat America, listen to what is being said and look at what is being done, and ask yourself: “Who are these people?

No nation can tax itself into prosperity. Those who say the stimulus “didn’t work” remind me of the guy whose house is on fire. A neighbor runs with a garden hose and starts spraying, but the fire continues. The neighbor wants to call the fire department, which would bring the big hoses, but the guy says, “Don’t call. As you can see, water doesn’t put out fires.”

11/9/10: “Marine Commandant Gen. James Amos, who opposes repealing the ban, told reporters over the weekend that ending the (‘don’t ask; don’t tell’) policy could cause unique consequences and risks for the Marine Corps.”
What a load of crap. He probably would have said the same thing about allowing women, blacks and Muslims into the military. The man is a closet bigot — and maybe not so closet.

Someone should tell Marine Commandant Gen. James Amos [see above comment]
Well, the law was passed, and soon (I hope) we can close this shameful chapter in American history. All those Congress people who voted or spoke against this (Hello, Republicans), should hang their heads in disgrace. I hope the voting public remembers you in 2012.
