The Republicans are clever enough to know they lose elections because they alienate the young, the poor, the middle, the gay, the Latin, the black and the women, essentially leaving the right-wing to bitter, old, white, male bigots (who claim to love God) as their base.

So one might believe these clever, bitter, old, white, male bigots would at least pretend they have changed. But no-o-o-o-o-o-o. They can’t bring themselves to keep from stepping on their tongues, and displaying their underlying ignorance and bigotry.

Republican, Tea Party conservative Senator Todd Akin famously said “It seems to me, from what I understand from doctors, (pregnancy from rape is) really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something: I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not attacking the child.”

That incredibly stupid comment — which is in line with right-wing thinking — cost him his Senate seat, tossed out by angry women. Republican lesson learned?

Um, not quite.

Republican, Tea Party conservative Senator Richard Mourdock famously said, “I just struggled with it myself for a long time but I came to realize life is that gift from God that I think even if life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen.”

That incredibly stupid comment (after a long struggle of thought) — which is in line with right-wing thinking — cost him his Senate seat, tossed out by angry women. Republican lesson learned?

Um, not quite.

We now have Republican, Tea Party conservative Representative Trent Franks:

Republican Argues The Incidence Of Pregnancy From Rape Is ‘Very Low’
June 12th, 2013, Jason Sattler

Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) argued Wednesday that the number of women who get pregnant due to rape is “very low.”

“Before, when my friends on the left side of the aisle here tried to make rape and incest the subject — because, you know, the incidence of rape resulting in pregnancy are [sic] very low”

Yikes! Clearly, this idiocy is a tenet of right wing, Christian dogma — something they all know for sure, and so deeply is this false conviction held, they simply cannot help themselves from repeating it.

Perhaps they hope if they keep repeating it, but a bit differently — “legitimate rape,” “the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,” “gift from God,” “something that God intended,” “the incidence of rape resulting in pregnancy are very low” — that somehow the lie magically will become the truth, and that women magically will come to love them.

Attention: Old, right-wing, male, God-loving but female-hating bigots. Being stupid is not a sure path to election. O.K.,, being stupid may help if you live in a stupid, right-wing, God-loving but female-hating district, though even so, there is limit to how far stupidity will take you.

(Yes, three dozen useless votes against Obamacare is equally right-wing stupid, but they won’t cost you as many voters.)

Remember this: Rape is not legitimate. God doesn’t endorse rape. And pregnancy from rape is no less frequent than pregnancy from consensual sex.

Keep repeating it to yourself until you understand it.

If ever.

The vast majority of federal deficit spending benefits the middle- and lower-income groups far more than it benefits the rich. So deficit reduction increases the gap between the rich and the rest.

The gap is what makes the rich rich. If there were no gap, no one would be rich, and the wider the gap, the richer the rich are.

Last month we published How to bribe the President, in 3 easy steps. It told how the upper 1% income group has bribed President Obama (via campaign contributions and promises of lucrative employment later) to widen the gap. Call this the “Clinton syndrome.”

President Clinton created massive deficit reduction, which led to a recession, and the grateful super-rich give him a big library in Little Rock, Arkansas, plus opportunities to make millions of dollars — opportunities he eagerly embraced.

Bill Clinton’s $106M speech circuit windfall
Clinton had most active, profitable year on lecture circuit in 2012
By Robert Yoon CNN Political Research Director

As former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton embarks on her new career as a paid speaker, she joins a lucrative family business that already has earned her husband more than $100 million since leaving office in 2001.

Like President Clinton, President Obama has a back-scratching relationship with the rich. To widen the gap, he gives them an increase in FICA (the most regressive tax in U.S. history) and his “Grand Bargain,” a toxic mixture of tax “broadening” (i.e. forcing the lower income groups to pay more) and cuts to social services.

He also gives them cushy jobs:

Washington Post
Obama appoints big money fundraisers to diplomatic posts

Three fundraisers who helped to raise millions for President Obama’s reelection were appointed to coveted diplomatic posts by the president Friday.

Rufus Gifford, who was Mr. Obama’s chief fundraiser in 2012, was appointed ambassador to Denmark.

John B. Emerson, who was cochair of the Democratic National Committe’s southern California finance committee, was nominated by Mr. Obama to become ambassador to Germany.

And HBO executive James Costos was nominated to become U.S. ambassador to Spain.

Mr. Emerson was a top fundraiser for Mr. Obama in 2012 who helped to organize events that raised more than $4 million from entertainment industry celebrities such as George Clooney.

Mr. Costos and Mr. Smith raised well over $500,000 from other donors for Mr. Obama’s reelection.

One might argue that these three men were the best possible choices for ambassadorships to such luxurious posts as Denmark, Germany and Spain.

Or, one might argue that Denmark, Germany and Spain aren’t very important, from the standpoint of ambassadorships, so it wouldn’t matter if inexperienced dolts were given those yearned-for jobs.

Or, one might argue that this is just part of the “You take care of me and I’ll take care of you” bribery that passes for honest decision-making in Washington.

While the inexperienced rich fundraisers get golden ambassadorships in Denmark, Germany and Spain, the experienced, talented career diplomats get ambassadorships in the like of Benghazi, Libya. Rather than enjoying celebrity hobnob parties, they do actual work, while risking death every day.

If you wonder why the middle- and lower-classes are being crushed, while the upper classes ride the gravy train —
If you wonder why unemployment remains stubbornly high, while a Monetarily Sovereign government that can afford anything fires thousands of middle-class employees —
If you wonder why no rich, thieving banker has gone to jail —
If you wonder why a President who pretends to love the underdog, gives all his loving to the “overdogs” —
The answer is straightforward: President Obama has been, and will continue to be, bribed.

It is not economic ignorance that has President Obama pushing austerity. He knows exactly what he is doing.

He knows takes care of the rich now, and widens the gap, the rich will take care of him, his wife and his daughters, later. It’s the Chicago way. It’s the Washington way.

When he arises each morning, he asks himself, “Can we Obamas make as much as the Clintons?”

“Yes, we can.”

Why is Rep. Steve King (R, IA) so frightened that he has to hide in his office and beg for a guard at his door?

Rep. Steve King: ‘Illegal aliens’ invaded my office
By Liz Goodwin, Yahoo! News

Rep. Steve King, a Republican from Iowa and the House’s leading immigration hawk, complained Thursday about young immigrants who had shown up to protest his bill that would defund President Barack Obama’s deferred action program.

Monetary Sovereignty

The congressman sponsored a measure to defund Obama’s 2012 executive action that gave young unauthorized immigrants relief from deportation and a work permit if they attend or graduate high school and have no criminal record.

Oh, horrors. All those young people, with no criminal record, attending and graduating from high school. Is this what so scares Rep. King, he wants to kick the children out of America?

The amendment to quash the program passed the Republican-controlled House last week, but is all but certain never to make it out of the Senate.

And exactly what is it that scares the Republicans? Why do they want to deport the very kind of young people we need to help grow America?

One of the leaders of the protest, Julieta Garibay, said the protesters—dressed in caps and gowns and carrying signs that said “future teacher,” “future lawyer” and other professions—wanted to remind King that “we are here to contribute to the country we love.”

Here is a political party that conducted research to determine why it was rejected by America. The research said Republicans must find a way attract young voters (See: The Republican plan to win the election and save America). And yet, here is a party that each day demonstrates it despises young people, brown people, black people, gay people, poor people and women.

It is a party that believes it lost the last election because of technology; it had poor data systems, polling, social media, and advertising. It is a party that believes it lost the last election because of what the research termed “branding”; it just needs a new slogan.

My suggestion: Let in as many young, honest, smart, educated, enthusiastic kids of all colors as we can, and deport the rich, white, right-wing, male bigots. Ah, what a wonderful nation this would be.

Hey, that could happen:

Last December we published Your handy recession predictors, which included a variety of recession predictors.

Here are simple graphs that seem to be the best predictors of all:

Monetary SovereigntyThe FRED series, Total Credit Market Debt Owed by Domestic Nonfinancial Sectors – Federal Government, is now known as Federal Government; Credit Market Instruments; Liability.

monetary sovereignty

Based on these graphs, let us ask ourselves four questions:

1. What does the federal government do in the years leading up to recessions?

2. What does the government do that cures recessions?

3. What is the government doing now?

4. Why?

You might show this to your federal government representatives, and ask them those questions.
