Dr. Joseph Ladapo, DeSantis’s Surgeon General of Florida, says don’t vaccinate healthy children

The following outlines what may be typical of Republican healthcare: Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo announced Florida would be the first state to recommend against COVID-19 vaccines for healthy children. Ladapo has made it clear he believes the science behind COVID-19 recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Preventions is lacking.

Florida’s new surgeon general opposes mandates, calls COVID-19 vaccines “nothing special” By Li Cohen, September 23, 2021 / 7:38 AM EDT / CBS News

Studies show how big a difference the COVID vaccines can make.

Those who are unvaccinated are 11 times more likely to die from COVID-19 compared to those are vaccinated, according to recent data from the Centers from Disease Control and Prevention.

Unvaccinated people are also about four and a half times more likely to get COVID and over 10 times more likely to be hospitalized.

Ladapo has a public history of promoting unproven treatments for COVID-19, writing an op-ed in the New York Daily News in 2020 touting the drug hydroxychloroquine — which the World Health Organization has warned is not an effective prevention or treatment method for COVID-19.

He also appeared with and praised America’s Frontline Doctors, a group of pro-Trump health care workers that has spread misinformation about the pandemic.

The evidence overwhelmingly supports the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccinations for healthy children. Here are some key points:

Safety: Large-scale studies and continuous monitoring have shown that COVID-19 vaccines are safe for children. Serious adverse events are rare, and the benefits of vaccination far outweigh the risks.

COVID-19 Vaccines: Safe and Effective in Children Aged 5 to 11 Years

Efficacy: Vaccines have been shown to be effective in preventing COVID-19 infections, hospitalizations, and severe outcomes in children. For example, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was found to be 100% effective in preventing COVID-19 in children aged 12-15.

Vaccine Safety: Examine the Evidence

Long COVID: Vaccination also provides protection against Long COVID, a condition where symptoms persist long after the initial infection.

COVID-19 Vaccine Reduces Long COVID in Children

While there are rare cases of adverse events, such as myocarditis, the overall risk remains very low compared to the benefits of vaccination. The CDC and other health organizations continue to recommend vaccination for children to protect their health and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

NIH Study: A study by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) estimated that COVID-19 vaccinations prevented up to 140,000 deaths in the U.S. by May 2021. The study highlighted the vital role of vaccines in saving lives and controlling the pandemic1.

Vaccines prevented up to 140,000 COVID-19 deaths in U.S.

Oxford Study: Researchers at the University of Oxford found that COVID-19 vaccines significantly reduce the severity of illness in vaccinated individuals. The study showed a reduction in harmful inflammatory responses to the virus, which are associated with severe disease.

Ground-breaking study reveals how COVID=19 vaccines prevent severe disease

BMJ Study: A countrywide study in Scotland found that vaccination was 90% effective in preventing deaths caused by the Delta variant of COVID-19. This study analyzed over 114,000 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Covid-19: Vaccines are highly effective in preventing deaths from delta variant, study indicates

Long COVID Study: A study published in The New England Journal of Medicine found that COVID-19 vaccinations played a key role in reducing the risk of Long COVID. The study showed that the risk of developing Long COVID dropped significantly among vaccinated individuals.

Don’t believe scientists. Believe the undertakers, embalmers, Ron DeSantis, Donald Trump, and InfoWars.
Undertakers and embalmers oppose COVID vaccine

Embalmers and funeral home workers say they are noticing an increase in unusual blood clots among the deceased.

Some of them, without evidence, are attributing it to the COVID-19 vaccines.

One of the claims comes from an article titled “Embalmers finding ‘strange clots’ in jabbed people” and published by NewsWars, a website run by Alex Jones that has a history of spreading fake news and conspiracy theories.

“I actually pulled this long, fibrous-looking clot out prior to embalming … . At the front end of it, it looks like a normal blood clot, but that white fibrous-looking stuff just isn’t normal,” Alabama embalmer Richard Hirschman was quoted in the article as saying.

Hirschman added that “my gut is telling me” it’s caused by the vaccine.

Hirschman shared similar claims on the “Dr. Jane Ruby Show,” and with PolitiFact when we contacted him.

John O’Looney of Milton Keynes Family Funeral Services based in the United Kingdom made similar claims to InfoWars, another conspiracy-oriented website run by Jones, suggesting that “the experimental shot” could be to blame.

We especially note the opinions of undertakers regarding COVID treatment because they could be considered highly interested parties. 1. Hello from the UK

It looks like you didn’t get the memo. In 2020 they rebranded the ‘flu which was why ‘flu cases almost disappeared from the statistics to be replaced by COVID 19, a big clue.

As I have known since the 1980’s that the ‘flu shots made people ill (even my wife had one in 1989 and was promptly ill for 3 days), I thought what was the point.

So it certainly is not a good idea to inject healthy children with such things. In fact, funnily enough it is not a good idea to inject unhealthy children either as they already have enough to cope with.

  2. Well, you certainly have proved your point. “Flu” no longer is called “flu” and after the shot, your wife got ill for 3 days (while unvaccinated people were dying of flu).

Who could argue with such evidence?

I have had many flu shots and never had the flu, so I guess that proves . . . something or other.

Are you preaching against all vaccinations or just flu vaccinations? I ask because Texas, a conservative state that began to discourage vaccination, is now undergoing a great many measles cases — a disease that had all but disappeared in America.

I continue to marvel at how the anti-vax crowd can latch onto tiny points of miscellaneous gossip while ignoring massive research results.

By the way, have you ever been to the United States, or are you afraid of sailing over the edge?

Oh, did I mention we have a tradition here called “Groundhog Day.” If a certain groundhog comes out of his hole on that day, and sees his shadow, we will have 6 more weeks of winter.

Interestingly, Groundhog Day is always February 2nd. The Spring Equinox (official end of winter/start of spring) is always around March 20th. That’s exactly 6 weeks later (give or take a day or two depending on leap years.

So whether or not the groundhog sees its shadow, we always have 6 more weeks of winter.

I thought this might be meaningful for you.

Stay safe and please don’t win the Darwin Award.

    1. Hello Rodger

My sincere apologies for not replying earlier but it seems you posted your comment in reply to your article and not to me. You have been blogging since 2009 I see, so I would have thought you might have got the hang of it by now. Darwin Award on its way to you.

Anyway, you obviously missed the clues as to the rebranding. Indeed, you seem to have missed the fact that they have been ‘rebranding’ the ‘flu over decades. It is standard business practice when sales are falling. As you are an economist I am sure you understand.

It is wonderful to hear that you have had many flu shots and never had the flu. Vaccine Russian roulette is a strange game, some people can go for years without obvious side effects, others keep falling sick and thinking ‘Well at least it’s working’!

I marvel at how the vaccine cultists like your good self can think (I use the term ‘think’ advisedly) that because nothing happens they are ‘protected’.

It is a simple case of ‘correlation does not equal causation’ as there are too many individual circumstances to factor in over the years after a vaccine is given. This is simple statistics which I am sure you use regularly.

And yes, I have been to the USA, to the East coast for 2 weeks or so back in 1978. I am not sure why you should think that I might think I could fall off the edge of the world, but I suppose the vaccines have had a side effect on you of which you were not aware.

Nevertheless, keep up the good work. I am sure you will encourage the Dreadfully Dim to take the vaccines and boost pharma profits. Darwin would be proud of you Rodger.

  3. When I was young, children sickened and even died from many disease that you seldom hear about any more.

Now, in Texas, children have begun to sicken and die from measles. I wonder why. Something in the Texas water??

My parents were terrified by polio. All those iron lungs. Now, you seldom hear about polio, either. Smallpox, gone.

COVID killed a million Americans until the vaccination was developed. Even Trump bragged about how he, single-handedly, developed the vaccine at “Warp Speed.”

Here is some actual data, from research (as opposed to the hearsay of Kennedy and Ladapo and you.

Classical Vaccines (long history, stable targets)

    • Measles (MMR): ~97% effective with 2 doses (almost sterilizing immunity).
    • Polio (IPV): >90% effective after 3 doses.
    • Hepatitis B: ~95% protection after full series.
    • Tetanus (Tdap/Td): near 100% protection after primary series, boosters needed ~every 10 years.
    • Yellow Fever: ~99% long-term protection from a single shot.

    Flu Vaccines

    • Seasonal Influenza: varies a lot year-to-year, usually 40–60% effective against symptomatic flu in healthy adults, but much better (~70–90%) at preventing hospitalization/severe disease.

    COVID-19 Vaccines

    • mRNA (Pfizer/Moderna, 2021 original strain): ~95% efficacy against symptomatic disease early on; much higher (~99%) protection against hospitalization and death.
    • Against Omicron (2022–2023): ~40–60% against infection, but still ~80–90% against severe disease after boosting.
    • Novavax protein-based: ~90% against symptomatic disease (original strain), real-world data shows somewhat less with new variants.

    Other Examples

    • HPV Vaccine: ~97–100% protection against targeted HPV strains (and their cancers) when given before exposure.
    • Shingles (Shingrix): >90% protection, even in older adults.
    • Pneumococcal Vaccines: effectiveness depends on strain covered, but typically 50–85% against invasive disease.

    🔑 Summary:

    • The “gold standard” old vaccines (measles, polio, tetanus, yellow fever) are extremely effective (90–99%).
    • Modern ones like COVID, flu, pneumococcal are trickier because the virus mutates — so numbers are more like 40–90% depending on what you count.
    • Effectiveness is always higher for preventing hospitalization and death than for preventing mild infection.

    1. Hello Rodger

Just as well I checked as you have done it again old chap, replied to your own post! It isn’t that difficult to reply to me, just click ‘reply’ under my comment; you have done it to others.

If you are going to provide so-called data you really should provide sources, otherwise people will think you might have made it up.

As regards diseases you don’t hear about anymore, well that is due to rebranding. It is a clever wheeze of the medical industrial complex, just call it something else and hope people don’t twig. Works wonderfully on the Stupid.

As to polio and your parents, well, scaring people to do silly things is another of the tricks of the trade. It was done with COVID, don’t you remember? I recommend you look up DDT for example and see the problems with this toxic substance.

Anyway, if you do decide to reply to me, please do it correctly as otherwise people will think you are merely talking to yourself.

  4. Sorry old bean, if I have not used your preferred format. Anyway, mate, the words you see in blue are links to the “so-called” data. Just put that little arrow on one and left click on your mouse, old sausage.

As for rebranding, dear boy, are you implying that smallpox still is with us, but now we call it “athlete’s foot”?

I should add, my good fellow, that despite your insistence on data you provide no sources for your “so-called” information other than your wife’s “so-called” 3-day sickness, which might have been the common cold.

In any event, old bean, I sincerely advise you not to take any vaccinations or other medications, which will put you in line to win a Darwin Award, and be of great benefit to humankind.

    Best of British, chum.

    Cheers.

    1. Oh dear Rodger, once again you reply to yourself not to me. I did explain, are you really that dim? Yes it seems. I was replying to your comment and you did not put hyperlinks on your comment did you or say which links you get the figures from?

As for rebranding smallpox, well perhaps it is chicken pox or monkey pox, anything will do as long as it is similar with a rash and blisters and people can be deceived by doctors’ appeal to their authority. Athlete’s foot would have been too obvious as it is fungal, but perhaps you didn’t know that.

Still, you have managed to prove for a third time that questioning what you are told by those who have a vested interest in taking you for a ride is not your strength. Unless you have shares in pharmaceuticals which would then make sense of your defence of the indefensible.

I see you are a Democrat supporter. I once thought there was not much difference between them and the Republicans. But since 2020 I have seen a vast gap open up as die hard Democrats descend into insanity over various things.

Anyway, did you know you were predestined to be a Democrat? Yes, your name includes the word and we can get this anagram phrase ‘loll germ milch democrat’.

We also find ‘Hitler’ and ‘Himmler’ in your name and also ‘doctor’. But I like this best for you.

      – hello am dimmer gcc troll

Anyway, should you decide to reply yet again to your post rather than to me that is up to you, I will not bother to check up again. I have had some fun though so thank you.
