Here is a straightforward question for students of Constitutional law: What is the purpose of the Republicans in today’s Congress? (i.e., what exactly do they do, and why are they given a salary, office, healthcare insurance, and other perks?)

Am I in a weird horror movie?
President Donald Trump recently announced that he has fired several members of the board of trustees for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and has appointed himself as the new chairman.
He stated that he plans to make significant changes to the center, including ending events featuring performers in drag.

We are already in a Constitutional Crisis, with the co-equal branch of Congress led by its sycophant majority willingly giving up its power to demand laws and its advise and consent provision be followed. The courts are resisting Trump for now, with 9 injunctions and more coming but at some point Trump may either appeal and extend his illegal actions indefinitely, or simply disobey the courts altogether.
The courts have no enforcement powers over the federal law enforcement agencies. They DO have power over the marshal service and some local law enforcement, but this is not enough for a president SCOTUS has given absolute immunity to.
Legally, there will be only one option, and it will require at least 3 Republican representatives and 4 Senators to defy Trump and MAGA to do impeachment #3, this time with conviction in the Senate. It will require members of law enforcement to uphold the Constitution, even over their Trump appointed bosses, but this is already very hard since Trump has purged most of the FBI, CIA, and other law enforcement agency opposition, and is trying to remove protection otherwise by outing those suing him for their old jobs back. The courts are resisting that too, but for how long under threats of their own?
Trump is not Hitler, but there are very close playbook parallels to Hitler’s first 53 days:
