–Immigration: I couldn’t have said it better, except for two things

Mitchell’s laws:
●The more federal budgets are cut and taxes increased, the weaker an economy becomes.
●Austerity is the government’s method for widening the gap between rich and poor,
which ultimately leads to civil disorder.
●Until the 99% understand the need for federal deficits, the upper 1% will rule.
To survive long term, a monetarily non-sovereign government must have a positive balance of payments.
●Those, who do not understand the differences between Monetary Sovereignty and monetary non-sovereignty, do not understand economics.
●The penalty for ignorance is slavery.
●Everything in economics devolves to motive,
and the motive is the gap.

Children, You’re Not Welcome Here!

A country that claims to value religious principles is beyond redemption if it cannot offer its safety to innocent children.

We can’t have it both ways. We are either a nation that lives by its religious principles and takes care of the least of these, or we are hypocrites publicly crying “lord, lord” as we turn and look the other away.

The author provides the moral reasons for accepting children. Clearly, the right wing, that claims so much religiosity, acts in the most immoral fashion.

The claim that there is no room in our life raft, or that even providing a life raft, encourages more refugees, is so repugnant, so hypocritical, and so wrong, it is difficult to understand how any person can harbor these beliefs and claim to be religious.

Attending church doesn’t put you in good with God. It’s what you do to your fellow man (or child) that counts.

Shame, shame on our religious leaders for not speaking out. What the hell is the good of religion, if it teaches “Screw you, I’ve got mine”?

And if you need further evidence, please read:

Hope Dwindles for Hondurans Living in Peril

Gangs move from house to house demanding “rent” or a “war tax,” or the property itself. Night after night, families flee in terror to other parts of Honduras, to Mexico, to the United States, many of them part of the wave of child and family migrants overwhelming American detention centers in the Southwest.

Many young people have left, but many more have stayed, living locked in their homes and harboring dreams of escape.

Yes, the situation is horrifying. Children brave dangers coming to America, not because they are tempted by an “easy” life, but simply to live, to survive, to grow to be adults.

Aside from the moral issues, there are two other issues the authors don’t address:

1. Helping these children doesn’t cost us anything. Our taxes do not pay for federal spending. Our government is Monetarily Sovereign. It creates dollars ad hoc, by spending dollars. So whether caring for refugee children costs a billion dollars or a trillion dollars, our federal government can afford it, and no taxes needed.

There are plenty of dollars to care for refugee children, while caring for our own citizens, too. It’s not either/or.

2. These children will grow up to be contributors to the American economy. They will work, produce, create and pay local taxes. Children are our greatest asset. They are our future, and always have been. When we deny admittance to children, we deny America’s past and America’s destiny.

In summary, admitting children is moral, free and productive. Building the wall higher makes no moral or logical sense. It’s an exercise in meanness and stupidity.

Ten Steps to Prosperity:
1. Eliminate FICA (Click here)
2. Federally funded Medicare — parts A, B & D plus long term nursing care — for everyone (Click here)
3. Provide an Economic Bonus to every man, woman and child in America, and/or every state a per capita Economic Bonus. (Click here) Or institute a reverse income tax.
4. Free education (including post-grad) for everyone. Click here
5. Salary for attending school (Click here)
6. Eliminate corporate taxes (Click here)
7. Increase the standard income tax deduction annually
8. Tax the very rich (.1%) more, with higher, progressive tax rates on all forms of income. (Click here)

9. Federal ownership of all banks (Click here)

10. Increase federal spending on the myriad initiatives that benefit America’s 99% (Click here)

10 Steps to Economic Misery: (Click here:)
1. Maintain or increase the FICA tax..
2. Spread the myth Social Security, Medicare and the U.S. government are insolvent.
3. Cut federal employment in the military, post office, other federal agencies.
4. Broaden the income tax base so more lower income people will pay.
5. Cut financial assistance to the states.
6. Spread the myth federal taxes pay for federal spending.
7. Allow banks to trade for their own accounts; save them when their investments go sour.
8. Never prosecute any banker for criminal activity.
9. Nominate arch conservatives to the Supreme Court.
10. Reduce the federal deficit and debt

No nation can tax itself into prosperity, nor grow without money growth. Monetary Sovereignty: Cutting federal deficits to grow the economy is like applying leeches to cure anemia.
Two key equations in economics:
1. Federal Deficits – Net Imports = Net Private Savings
2. Gross Domestic Product = Federal Spending + Private Investment and Consumption – Net Imports

THE RECESSION CLOCK
Monetary Sovereignty

Monetary Sovereignty

Vertical gray bars mark recessions.

As the federal deficit growth lines drop, we approach recession, which will be cured only when the growth lines rise. Increasing federal deficit growth (aka “stimulus”) is necessary for long-term economic growth.

  1. GOP Congressman: If Obama Moves Alone On Immigration, Then Impeachment Could Be On The Table

Obama said in June he would move to bypass Congress by taking certain unilateral actions on immigration, frustrated with Congress’ inability to pass much of anything related to immigration reform.

House Speaker John Boehner had informed him earlier that month that the House would not vote on any immigration-related legislation for the rest of the year.

Translation: We aren’t going to do a damn thing about immigration, and we don’t want the President to do anything either. Let’s just deport everyone and be done with it. Bring in the National Guard — with guns.

  2. Puzzle for smart people!

Puzzle One: Imagine you are a 3 year old to 8 year old child. You are on your own without adults. You are asked to walk from Houston, Texas to Minneapolis, Minnesota on your own with no food or belongings to sustain you. Then you are asked to walk an addition 100 miles past Minnesota.
    Could you do it?

    • How long would it take you as a 6 year old? That is the minimum distance these poor, helpless little ones have supposedly walked from Central America to the border of Texas, again, on their own. They didn’t get lost.

    • And they survived the journey without help (unless you buy in to the notion that a destitute out-of-work family run out of their homes by gangs and living in squalor somehow came up with $8,000 to $10,000 for EACH child to pay a coyote to take them to the border).

    Puzzle Two:
You must start somewhere.Lets make it easy and start at the border of Guatemala leading into Mexico’s southern border and plot a course to Laredo,Texas, one of the CLOSEST Towns.

1220 miles across desert and mountains with no equipment or food or help.If they had been stopped these innocents at the border of Mexico, problem would not have occurred. However, what six year old do you know who could walk 1220 miles (minimum, probably more like 1500 miles on thejr own without dying?

How many days would it take for a 6 year old to walk 1220 miles without help, directions, food, sun protection, ect?

I don’t believe the whole truth is being given to us,folks. Someone created and assisted this, and the media should be figuring out who it is

      1. I agree. There is a severe disconnect with conservatives (or christian right-wingers) and the reality of the suffering of these immigrants. This is a humanitarian crisis. The US can clearly absorb these immigrants.

    1. I’m afraid that your snide attempt at sarcasm fizzled.

As countless articles on the web have explained, the migrants climb atop northbound freight trains by the hundreds. If the train derails, as happened in August 2013, many migrants are killed or maimed. For some parts of the journey the migrants use the cheapest buses they can find.

Traveling by freight train is very dangerous, for many reasons. Therefore the route north by freight train is colloquially known as La bestia (“The Beast”).

Sometimes drug cartels abduct the migrants and demand money from them. If the migrants can’t pay, they are killed. On 24 Aug 2010, 72 Central American migrants (58 men and 14 women) were abducted from buses and murdered. On 7 June 2011 the drug cartels abducted, tortured (yes, tortured), and murdered 193 migrants at almost the exact same place.

People in Central America know about all this, but they try going north anyway. Such is the intensity of their desperation, which is caused by their governments’ neo-liberal policies, sponsored by the USA.

Whenever Central Americans try to get rid of their corrupt governments, and make a better life for themselves, the USA sponsors a reactionary coup, or engineers a civil war, such that the nation is plunged back into hell. (Nicaragua, however, was victorious over the USA.)

As for your claim that each child must pay $8,000 to $10,000 to a coyote to take him or her to the border, please explain where you got that figure.

  3. == OFF TOPIC ==

If I lived in North Carolina, I would attend this workshop….

This coming Monday (11 Aug 2014) U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) and Pete Peterson’s Concord Coalition will hold an “educational workshop” on the so-called “national debt.”

Since the “workshop” will be at a Senior Center, the curricula will perhaps center on why senior citizens are “greedy geezers” (as Alan Simpson calls them) who must submit to cuts in their Medicare and Social Security.

(Ms. Foxx herself is 71, and is anti-immigrant. Last year she introduced a bill that would deny U.S. citizenship to children born to undocumented migrants in the USA. The bill flouts the US Constitution, but Ms. Foxx’s Tea Party clowns love it. In September 2005, Ms. Foxx voted against the $51 billion aid package to victims of Hurricane Katrina.)

I would love to go there and hand out brochures that explain the truth. Or simply pass out business cards with Rodger’s blog address.
